MyFolderAnywhere installation guide
General

To install and start using MyFolderAnywhere:

1. Execute the Set-up file by double click. Installation process will be easily completed by simply click "Next" button !

2. After MFA successfully installed , the wizard about DB/EMail Settings will be displayed in the first time. You can also manually config by clicking the "DB Config" from windows "Start-> All Programs->MyFolderAnywhere->Tools" , the EMail setting can be found in the mainform's toolbar -> Options .

3. Run MyFolderAnywhere.

 

for the old version update:

after download 'MFASetup.exe' . run it , and follow the tips to override the old install directory.

 
Requirements
General

  • Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows vista
  • 10M disk space
  • An Appropriative Email supporting  pop3 and smtp(different email from your common use email for receive/send mail, MFA will use this mail to store the new information include notes, favorites and Calendar between your other computer. this will not effect local using if you don't define the configuration).

Configuring MyFolderAnywhere

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is to transfer mail reliably and efficiently.

MFA requests the email  supporting SMTP. You can config SMTP for your own MFA refer to the below pic

Key concept

  • Outgoing mail server(SMTP) : your SMTP server address, more SMTP server like ‘smtp.yoursite.com’, you can get more information from your email provider.

  • the server need SSL encrypt: some email provider support SSL for security reason. Let it uncheck if you don’t sure your email support it.

  • Port: SMTP port, default value is 25.

  • Type: The following table lists the values that can be included in a SMTP’s type.

  • Same account as POP3: checked means program use pop3 account and password to login SMTP server. The default value is checked.

  • Account: the email accout, like ‘ This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ’.

Configuring MyFolderAnywhere

    The Post Office Protocol - Version 3 (POP3) is intended to permit a workstation to dynamically access a maildrop on a server host in a useful fashion.  Usually, this means that the POP3 protocol is used to allow a workstation to retrieve mail that the server is holding for it.

    We must has an email supporting POP3 to synchronize information through MyFolderAnywhere.

         

         Two way to config POP3 setting

         1. Follow the install guide.

         2.Open the main window, click Option button, select POP3 tab to get the pop3 property page

 Key concept

         Your email:  define an email you want to store the changing information.

         Incoming mail server(POP3): your pop3 server address, more POP3 server like ‘pop3. yoursite.com’,  you can get it from your email provider.

         Port: POP3  port, default value is 119.

         The Server need SSL Encrypt: some email provider support SSL for security reason.  Let it uncheck if you don’t sure your email support it.
